Rebutia perplexa
Cacti
These are the succulent plants with spines - some of them bite, but not when you know how to handle them :-)
Cacti and succulents are found, time and time again, to be ideally suited to modern living conditions, surviving "where no plant has survived before".
Because these plants are able to store water they can survive in our houses for long periods without any water at all or they can put up with very irregular bouts of watering.
This, together with the fact that they not only survive but also look nice, and - yes - many of them will flower freely, has led to their increasing popularity.
Most plants available here are flowering size and will flower within 12 months (in their season)
The true cacti come mostly from the New World, that is from North & South America, although there are some Rhipsalis to be found in Madagascar, off the east coast of Africa -they probably arrived there as seeds on bird's feet.
